Product Description
In a saltwater or chlorinated pool, any metal immersed in the water actually produces an electrical charge. This causes a reaction between the salt/chlorine in the pool and the metal, sometimes creating oxidation buildup on the metal surfaces.Ā
When the aluminum legs of the PetStep ramp are left in your pool for prolonged periods, this oxidation will occur in the form of white dust and crystals along the rampās surface. While this oxidation is purely cosmetic, meaning it does not interfere with the strength or performance of the ramp and can be easily cleaned off, it can also be a bit annoying for dog owners who want to leave their PetStep ramp in the pool.Ā
The Zinc Anode Kit attaches to the legs of your PetStep pool ramp to reduce oxidation on the metalās surface. Sometimes called a āsacrificial zinc anode,ā it works by behaving almost like a battery that creates electrical currents. This causes the weaker of the two metals (the zinc) to oxidize instead of the aluminum legs.Ā
To install the Zinc Anode Kit, simply:
- Position 1 zinc anode somewhere against the surface of each of the pool legs
- Use the included self-tapping screws through the pre-drilled hole on the anode to secure them to the legs with a power drill
Now you can leave your PetStep pool ramp in the pool for longer periods with significantly less oxidation. Your pool ramp will look new for seasons to come!
